Facilities for ground processing TV system for navigation and observation

Designed at IKI RAN facilities for ground processing TV system for navigation and observation (TSNN) allow to simulate on Earth light-optical conditions being similar to the working conditions for TSNN imaging cameras during approaching to Phobos and spacecraft landing.

These facilities are used for testing narrow-angle (UTK) and wide-angle (ShTK) TV cameras with focal lengths of 500 and 18 mm, field of view of 0.85 and 23° operating within a range of 0.4–1 mkm.
Testing equipment includes:
  • - control computer with a digital monitor,
  • - interfaces,
  • - optical collimators with a set of light filters,
  • - Phobos surface simulator (IPF),
  • - power supply for providing onboard voltage of 24–34 V.

The software developed for test equipment make it possible to solve the following tasks:
  • - controlling TSNN cameras in accordance with requirements of onboard computer in main operation modes: «Sequential Imaging», «Star Imaging» and «Imaging»;
  • - formation of Phobos model optical images on IPF which correspond to main flight stages and TSNN operation modes;
  • - visualization of the obtained image and reportage frame, drawing a map of surface suitability for landing and an indication of the optimal landing site;
  • - display of selected reference sites and the results of matching in mono and stereo modes;
  • - display of measurements of distance to the Phobos surface and lateral displacement.
